WeeklyTown (“WeeklyTown”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to keeping the collection of user information to a minimum.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the WeeklyTown mobile application, website, and related services.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
WeeklyTown is designed so that you can read news without creating an account.
We do not require or collect:

Mobile phone number
Password
Date of birth
Home address
Contact list
Precise GPS location
Photos or files from your device
Microphone recordings
Camera data
Payment information
You do not need to register, log in, or create a profile to read news on WeeklyTown.
2. State and District Selection
WeeklyTown asks you to manually select a state so that we can show news relevant to that state.
You may also choose districts and news categories that interest you.
For example, you may select:
Arunachal Pradesh as your primary state
Itanagar or Papum Pare as districts of interest
Categories such as Politics, Sports, Education, Health, Business, or Notices
These selections are preferences chosen manually by you.
WeeklyTown does not use your phone's GPS or automatically determine your physical location.
Selecting a state or district does not mean WeeklyTown knows that you are physically located there.
These preferences may be stored on your device and/or on WeeklyTown's backend so that your preferred news feed can continue to work correctly.
3. Push Notifications
If you choose to enable notifications, WeeklyTown may receive and store a notification token associated with your device.
The token is used only for purposes such as sending:
News from your selected state
News from districts you are interested in
Breaking news
Important public notices
News from categories you have selected
A push-notification token does not provide WeeklyTown with your name, phone number, email address, or precise GPS location.
You can disable WeeklyTown notifications at any time through the app settings or your phone's notification settings.
4. Technical Information
Like most online services, limited technical information may automatically be processed when the app communicates with our servers.
This may include information such as:
Device platform, such as Android or iOS
App version
Notification token
Request timestamps
Basic server logs
IP address transmitted during normal internet communication
Error or diagnostic information required to maintain the service
We use this information only when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve WeeklyTown.
We do not use this information to determine your precise physical location.
5. How We Use Information
The limited information handled by WeeklyTown may be used to:
Show news from your selected state
Personalise news using your selected districts and categories
Save your app preferences
Save bookmarks or other local preferences
Deliver notifications you have enabled
Maintain and improve app performance
Diagnose technical problems
Protect WeeklyTown from misuse or security threats
WeeklyTown does not require personal profiles for these functions.
6. Original News Sources
WeeklyTown provides short news summaries and may include links to original sources.
When you tap Read Original Source, you may be taken to another website or service.
These third-party websites have their own privacy policies and data practices.
WeeklyTown is not responsible for the privacy practices, content, security, or policies of external websites.
We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external website you visit.
7. Third-Party Service Providers
WeeklyTown may use trusted technology providers to operate the app and website.
These may include services such as:
Supabase for database and backend infrastructure
Expo services for mobile application functionality and push notifications
Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for certain Android notifications
Apple Push Notification Service for iOS notifications
Hosting and infrastructure providers
These providers may process limited technical information where necessary to provide their services.
Their handling of information is also governed by their respective privacy policies and terms.
8. Advertising and Sale of Personal Data
WeeklyTown does not sell your personal data.
WeeklyTown does not use your manually selected state or district to determine your real-world physical location.
If advertising, analytics, or additional third-party services that involve new data collection are introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
9. Data Retention
WeeklyTown keeps information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and maintain the service.
State, district, category, bookmark, and similar preferences may remain stored until:
You change them
You clear your app data
They are no longer required
The relevant record is removed from our systems
Push-notification tokens may remain stored while they are active. Invalid or inactive tokens may periodically be removed.
10. Data Security
WeeklyTown takes reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information handled through the service.
However, no internet-based service or electronic storage system can guarantee absolute security.
We therefore limit the information collected by WeeklyTown wherever practical.
11. Your Choices
You are in control of your WeeklyTown preferences.
You may:
Change your selected state
Add or remove districts of interest
Change your preferred news categories
Enable or disable notifications
Remove bookmarks
Clear locally stored app data
Uninstall the WeeklyTown application
Because WeeklyTown does not require a user account, there may be no traditional user profile to delete.
If information associated with your device is stored on our servers and you would like assistance regarding that information, you may contact us.
12. Children's Privacy
WeeklyTown is a general news service and is not specifically designed to collect personal information from children.
We do not knowingly ask children to provide names, phone numbers, email addresses, precise location, or other account information through the normal news-reading experience.
If we become aware that information has been collected contrary to applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to address it.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when:
WeeklyTown introduces new features
